The updated official forecast brings the center of Flossie over waters just east of the Hawaiian Islands as a tropical depression on Monday.
County Update: Flossie Weakening, Potential for Surf, Rain for Maui
Weather impacts are expected to build late today and into Sunday, with peak impacts affecting Maui County on Sunday night and Monday.

The center of Erick will pass by around 175 miles south of the Big Island tonight, with Tropical-storm-force winds extending outward up to 105 miles from the center, according to the Central Pacific Hurricane Center.

The reports will help officials determine if Maui County qualifies for any state or federal assistance. The data will also help to ensure that the County of Maui has a complete picture of the damage caused by the July 29 storm event.

The now “Post-Tropical Remnant Low Flossie” continues to weaken, but could still bring heavy showers to the western portion of the state.

“The build up of green waste in the stream bed, caused the stream to clog and divert from its normal path,” said Maui Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.

Governor Authorizes Directors to Determine Release of Employees Due to Flossie
The state administration anticipates the release of some employees in Maui and Hawaiʻi Counties today and/or tomorrow, to the extent the storm progresses as currently anticipated, officials from the governor’s office announced in a press release this afternoon.
MECO Urges Public to Take Storm Precautions
Before the storm hits MECO advises that customers take the following precautions: Turn off and unplug unnecessary electrical equipment, especially sensitive electronics which could be damaged by a power surge.
Maui Shelters Open at 9 a.m. as Flossie Nears
The Maui of County Civil Defense agency announced the availability of shelters for those needing protection or refuge from the storm.
UPDATE: Flossie Impacts Continue, Latest Maui Forecast
FLOOD ADVISORY for LANAI, in effect until 11:00 p.m. At 7:48 p.m. radar showed heavy rain over Lanai. The heavy rains are moving west at 15 to 20 mph. Other locations in the advisory include, but are not limited to, Manele Harbor and Lanai City.
Water Conservation Urged on Maui as Flossie Nears
“Water should be used for health and sanitation purposes only as a precaution in case water or wastewater systems fail,” said county authorities in a press release. “All other uses should be delayed until after the storm passes,” officials said.
