Motorists are advised that paving on Crater Road (Route 378) is set to begin on Monday, July 14, with completion scheduled in October.
Wildfire debris transfer 18% complete, Maui County reports
As of July 7, about 18% of the nonhazardous debris from the Lahaina wildfires has been moved from the Temporary Debris Storage site in Olowalu to the Permanent Disposal Site near the Central Maui Landfill in Puʻunēnē, according to the US Army Corps of Engineers.
Nighttime pavement marker work in East Maui, Upcountry and North Kīhei, July 2-3
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies highway users of lane and shoulder closures during night work this week on Hāna Highway, Haleakalā Highway and North Kīhei Road. Crews will be conducting pavement marker work in various areas beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2 through 6 a.m., Thursday, July 3.
More modular homes to be delivered to Ka Laʻi Ola next week
Hauling will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m, from Monday, June 30 to Friday, July 4 and then again from Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11. The transport will involve trucks in a caravan that will move the homes from the staging area near the Kahului small boat ramp, along Kahului Beach Road (Route 3400), to Lahaina.
Transport of Lahaina wildfire debris to start Monday, June 16
The transfer of Lahaina wildfire debris from the Olowalu Temporary Debris Storage site to the Permanent Disposal Site adjacent to the Central Maui Landfill in Puʻunēnē is set to begin June 16, following the completion of construction of the PDS.
Maui police host child safety seat inspection, June 7
The Maui Police Department will host a child safety seat inspection event within the Maui Marketplace parking lot from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025. The event is held in collaboration with the Keiki Injury Prevention Coalition, the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
Alternating traffic on Hāna Highway in Haʻikū for preparation for drainage improvements
The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies highway users that one lane in either direction on Hāna Highway (Route 36) in the vicinity of Kahiapo Place and Nahele Road will be closed on Tuesday, June 3 for drainage improvement preparation work.
