Maui Behavioral Health Resources, in collaboration with Ka La‘i Ola and Lau Kanaka, welcomed families and residents impacted by the Lahaina wildfires to an evening of connection, culture, and fun during the community’s recent Paniolo Night event.

The two-day forum is being held in Lahaina, which continues to recover following the devastating 2023 Maui wildfires. The idea behind the gathering was to bring people with expertise to share their experience and take best practices away, or identify areas to improve.

Evacuation advisories have been issued at 9:28 a.m. today, March 20, 2026, for Wahikuli and Leialiʻi areas below Ka Laʻi Ola in Lahaina due to nearby retention basins nearing capacity, according to Maui Emergency Management Agency (MEMA). County of Maui contracted crews are actively working to redirect overflow and actively pumping water from the Lahaina basin to help keep levels safe. Warnings and advisories are NOT mandatory evacuation orders.

An evacuation warning notice has been downgraded to an advisory at 10:13 a.m. today, March 15, 2026, for Wahikuli and Leialiʻi areas below Ka Laʻi Ola in Lahaina due to the lower risk of flooding, according to Maui Emergency Management Agency.

Lahaina Strong announced its 2nd Lahaina Strong Mākeke taking place on Halloween, Friday, Oct. 31 from 4:30–8:30 p.m. at the Ka La’i Ola Community, located at 348 Wahikuli Rd.

Hauling in Kahului will take place between 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 5. On Wednesday, Aug. 6 from 9 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., modular homes will be delivered to Lahaina.

Hauling will take place nightly from 9 p.m. to 11:59 p.m, from Monday, June 30 to Friday, July 4 and then again from Monday, July 7 to Friday, July 11. The transport will involve trucks in a caravan that will move the homes from the staging area near the Kahului small boat ramp, along Kahului Beach Road (Route 3400), to Lahaina.

Staff from Maui Behavioral Health Resources participated in a Summer ʻOhana Fun event on Friday, June 13 to bring fun, healing and mental health awareness to the communities of Ka Laʻi Ola and Kilohana in Lahaina.

In Hawaii, Matson continued its annual support for public schools statewide as the sole corporate sponsor of the State Department of Education’s Beginning Teacher Summer Academies with a contribution of $50,000 for two years. Larger contributions of primarily in-kind services in Hawaii include: Hawaii Foodbank – $1,254,000; Maui Wildfire Recovery – $ 648,000; Maui Foodbank – $ 613,000; and American Heart Association – $77,500.

The Credit Unions of Maui have donated $10,000 to Nā Hale Kūpuna project, an initiative by the J. Walter Cameron Center aimed at providing affordable housing for seniors affected by the August 2023 wildfires. This contribution will be allocated towards the purchase of new appliances for the housing units, enhancing the living conditions of the residents.

FEMA’s 167-unit Kiohana temporary home site for wildfire survivors was completed this week in Lahaina, Maui. 

The Office of Resiliency and Recovery today announced that the deadline to complete applications for the Hawaiʻi Interim Housing Program (HIHP) for Maui residents displaced by the August 2023 Wildfires is Jan. 15, 2025. Households that have existing applications have until Jan. 15 to complete any remaining information for HIHP processing.
