Flood Watch through this afternoon
The National Weather Service has extended the Flash Flood Warning for Maui until 10:30 a.m. At 7:16 a.m., radar showed heavy rain over east Maui. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. The heaviest rain is falling over the Kaupō area. Additional heavy showers are expected through the morning. Flash flooding is ongoing.
Update/Located: Maui police seek help in locating missing Kīhei woman
Kahue-Boynes was located and found to be in good health. The Maui Police Department thanks the public for their assistance.
Recipients selected for inaugural East Maui Water Authority community grants
The County of Maui East Maui Water Authority has selected five recipients for its inaugural community grant program, which supports local projects focused on water stewardship, cultural practices, environmental restoration and community collaboration in East Maui. Projects funded through the program include: the East Maui Farm, led by Nāpua Hūʻeu; Nā Moku ʻAupuni ‘O Ko‘olau Hui, led by Jessie-Ellen Kekiwi-Aweau; Friends of Twin Falls, represented by Maile Davis; Okada Design, led by Corinne Okada Takara; and Kahu ʻĀina: Earth Guardian Network, led by Liana Murillo.
Update: Maui Flood Advisory extended to 1:30 p.m.
The National Weather Service has extended a Flood Advisory for the island of Maui until 1:30 p.m. At 11:13 a.m., radar continued to show heavy rain over north facing slopes of Haleakalā, including the Hāna Highway.
Community invited to help shape the future of East Maui Water Authority at October workshops
This month’s workshops will build on ideas and priorities shared during watershed and resource-planning EMWA gatherings held over the summer in Keʻanae, Haʻikū and Kula.

Gina Young sworn in as East Maui Regional Water Authority director
Gina Young was sworn in Wednesday as the first director of the East Maui Regional Water Authority. The Maui County Council voted Oct. 25 to approve her appointment to the position, following her unanimous selection by the East Maui Regional Community Board or ʻAha Wai o Maui Hikina Regional Community Board.
Maui man injured in surf, airlifted from Keʻanae
A Maui man suffered injuries while surfing in Keʻanae on Tuesday afternoon. Crews from the Maui Fire Department’s Air 1 and Rescue 10 responded to the report of the surfer who was injured and on shore, but unable to walk. The 44-year-old resident was airlifted from shore and medevaced to the Maui Memorial Medical Center for further treatment.
