Multi-agency search and rescue exercise in South Maui

The County of Maui announced that numerous County, State and federal agencies will be participating in a joint search and rescue exercise this week. The most visible activities will take place Wednesday, March 20 from 8:30 a.m. to noon at Kīhei Boat Ramp and in the offshore waters between South Maui and the island of Lānaʻi.

Coast Guard, partners to conduct search and rescue exercise off Maui, March 20

The exercise will take place March 20, on the water and in the air off Kīhei Boat Ramp with Coast Guard and local agencies working together to test and evaluate interagency communications, response plans and responders’ actions during a simulated exercise of a missing mariner.

A water service outage has been reported at Kamaʻole Beach Park III and the Kīhei Boat Ramp. The Maui Department of Water Supply reports the outage will continue until 3:30 p.m. on June 7, due to a resurfacing project.

Drainage improvements to the Kīhei Boat Ramp wash down area on Maui will begin Feb. 6, 2023. The estimated completion date for the $324,820 project is March 3, 2023.

100 homes and 60 businesses impacted by Water outage on South Kīhei Road

The water service outage will affect 100 homes and 60 businesses and 100 fire hydrants. Water service will be out tentatively for six hours from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 30, 2022, in order to make necessary repairs. The affected area will begin at South Kīhei Road between the Kīhei boat ramp and Kamaʻole Beach Park 1.
