21st Annual Lahaina Town Cleanup returns Sept. 27 to unite for a cleaner coast

The 21st Annual Lahaina Town Cleanup, held in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy’s “International Coastal Cleanup” and Mālama Maui Nui’s “Get the Drift and Bag It!” campaign, invites both residents and visitors to join this global movement to remove litter and debris from coastal environments.

55th Maui Marathon draws thousands back to the West Side

The 55th Annual Maui Marathon made a heartfelt return to West Maui this past weekend, drawing more than 2,200 runners and walkers alike across the full marathon, half marathon, 10K, and 5K events. 

Maui Marathon race bib pickup and expo set for April 25–26 at Westin Maui Resort & Spa

Runners participating in the 55th annual Maui Marathon are invited to pick up their race packets at the Maui Marathon Health & Fitness Expo, held at the Westin Maui Resort & Spa, Kāʻanapali, on Friday, April 25 from 12 to 6 p.m., and Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa Hosts Kōkua for Maui – Shop & Show Aloha, July 5

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa will host its next Kōkua for Maui event on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the resort. The event is a place where Maui residents and visitors can shop and show their aloha for local artisans and Lahaina small businesses who were impacted by the August 2023 wildfires.

Community collaboration to share Mālama Maui Pins

The pin, named after the Hawaiian phrase “Mālama Maui,” signifying “Caring for Maui,” hopes to offer solace to residents while providing guidance for visitors. Its fundamental purpose is to establish a supportive environment for residents by offering a visual cue to visitors, signifying the importance of refraining from inquiring about the experiences of Maui residents, thus respecting their privacy.

Volunteers with the 16th Annual Lahaina Town Cleanup collected a 1-ton trailer worth of debris much of which was from abandoned campsites along the West Maui shoreline.  

Everything Halloween: Maui Edition

Police will be closing Front Street from Baker Street to Prison Street at 3:30 p.m., and anticipate re-opening Front Street at approximately 11 p.m. Roberts Hawaiʻi is offering a shuttle service as a way for people to get safely to and from Lahaina for Halloween without needing to worry about parking.

Island brand, Hi I Like You, was selected to print this year’s Halloween in Lahaina T-shirt.  The eco-friendly company uses sustainable clothing that utilizes materials such as recycled plastic bottles to “spread happiness and send positive messages.”
