Net proceeds benefit Hawaiian Civic Clubs in Lahaina, Los Angeles, Orange County and San Diego for fire recovery efforts.

Following the impact of the Lahaina wildfires in August 2023, Maui Chocolate Tour will reopen its immersive cacao farm experience this month. Guests can once again enjoy a journey through the Maui Kuʻia Estate cacao farm and the largest chocolate factory in Hawaiʻi where tours are available daily.

Maui Ku’ia Estate in Lahaina hosts a Laulima Chocolate Tasting event from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Aug. 6, 2023. The event features a nine-piece chocolate tasting at the Maui Kuʻia Estate Chocolate Factory in Lahaina in support of Maui Forest Bird Recovery Project.

In recognition of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, Bank of Hawai‘i presented local business Maui Specialty Chocolates with a $10,000 grant from Fiserv as part of its Back2Business program.

The sweet taste of success is covered with chocolate and lots of aloha. “The secret ingredient is Aloha. I put a lot of love in what I do,” said Maui’s Maile Crewdson, during the grand finale episode of the Great Chocolate Showdown.

Each Sunday, the rooftop at Maui Kuʻia Estate Chocolate factory in Lahaina hosts chocolate tasting and fundraising. It’s part of MKEC’s Chocolate Laulima, a cooperative program that promotes support and awareness of island nonprofit organizations.

Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate was named a “Producer of Excellence” and given the Gold Award in the Asia-Pacific Region in the International 2021 Cocoa of Excellence Awards, announced virtually from Rome, Italy, on Dec. 16.

Maui Ku‘ia Estate Chocolate, Inc. in Lahaina has promoted Dennis Elms to Factory and Technology Director, CEO Dr. Gunars Valkirs said.

Valkirs is hopeful that Chocolate Laulima can provide not only a benefit to the chocolate factory and to local nonprofit organizations, but that the benefit has even more direct results, as all money raised stays in Hawai‘i and mostly on Maui.
