Traffic advisory, facility closures June 18 due to large, sold-out Rams Mauicamp

The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation issued a traffic advisory from 6 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 18, 2025, for roadways surrounding War Memorial Complex and Keōpūolani Regional Park in Kahului due to the large, sold-out professional sporting event Rams Mauicamp. Also, public facilities will be closed to recreational use during the event.

Keōpūolani Park Softball Field 3 temporarily closed for repairs

Keōpūolani Regional Park Softball Field 3 is temporarily closed while undergoing fencing repair and maintenance work, announced the County Department of Parks and Recreation on Tuesday. 

Hui Aloha Playground at Keōpūolani Regional Park to be temporarily closed May 21 to May 24

Hui Aloha Playground at Keōpūolani Regional Park will be closed from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. May 21 to 24 while undergoing vandalism surfacing repair.  All adjacent facilities will remain open and accessible with other parking areas available to use. 

New restroom under construction at Haʻikū Park

Construction of a new restroom at Haʻikū Park is underway and is expected to be completed in late 2024, the Department of Parks and Recreation announced. Situated behind the Haʻikū Community Center on Hāna Highway, the restroom will replace a previous comfort station.

Patrick McCall appointed director of Parks; Shane Dudoit as deputy director

Maui Mayor Richard Bissen has appointed Patrick McCall to serve as director of the Department of Parks and Recreation, the County’s largest department with over 400 employees. Shane Dudoit was selected as deputy director.

Free events scheduled to celebrate July as National Parks and Recreation month

The Maui events include Outdoor Summer Movie Nights, a community dance at on Molokaʻi, and a Family Kickball Night on Lānaʻi.
