#Maui Whale Festival

With the help of friends, colleagues and community, Kaufman created a lasting impact. For the past four decades, the Maui Whale Festival, which runs throughout February each year, has honored the arrival and departure of these majestic creatures.

Humpback whales travel over 3,000 miles to reach their breeding grounds in Hawaiʻi. This month, the Pacific Whale Foundation challenges participants to travel just 1% of that, in a global fundraising effort.

Occurring throughout the month of February, this hybrid Maui Whale Festival event celebrates the return of migrating humpback whales to Maui Nui.

The Pacific Whale Foundation beach cleanups are part of the annual Maui Whale Festival, which also includes Race for Whales and the Great Whale Count.

Pacific Whale Foundation is bringing back its annual “Run & Walk for Whales” event this February. Sponsored in part by Bank of Hawai‘i, this year’s fundraiser will be held virtually from Feb. 1 to 28, 2022.

In recognition of World Ocean Day, Pacific Whale Foundation offers events and programs throughout the month of June designed to inspire awareness of our blue planet and the ocean that directly or indirectly sustains all life.

The annual Run & Walk for Whales takes place on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 7 to 11 a.m. at the Maui Harbor Shops. The event kicks off the Pacific Whale Foundation’s month-long 40th Anniversary Maui Whale Festival.

Twenty events and programs focused on community enrichment in Maui County were selected by the Hawaiʻi Tourism Authority to receive funding awards for the 2020 calendar year.

Kīhei’s 4th Friday Town Party will host the Maui Whale Festival on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Azeka Shopping Center Mauka.
