70-year-old pedestrian killed in hit-and-run crash in Kīhei; suspected driver arrested
A 70-year-old Māʻalaea man suffered fatal injuries when he was struck by a vehicle during a hit-and-run collision in Kīhei on Monday night.
The suspected driver was arrested on suspicion of first degree negligent homicide and collisions involving death.

On Tuesday, April 29, 2025, at 4:01 p.m., the pedestrian involved in Monday night’s accident on Dairy Road, succumbed to her injuries and died while at Maui Memorial Medical Center. The pedestrian is identified as Artemis Kagel, 71, of Kahului.
