Nighttime pavement marker work in East Maui, Upcountry and North Kīhei, July 2-3

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies highway users of lane and shoulder closures during night work this week on Hāna Highway, Haleakalā Highway and North Kīhei Road. Crews will be conducting pavement marker work in various areas beginning at 9 p.m. on Wednesday, July 2 through 6 a.m., Thursday, July 3.

Alternating traffic on Hāna Highway in Haʻikū for preparation for drainage improvements

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation notifies highway users that one lane in either direction on Hāna Highway (Route 36) in the vicinity of Kahiapo Place and Nahele Road will be closed on Tuesday, June 3 for drainage improvement preparation work.

Puʻunēnē closed in both directions between Wākea and Papa for night work, May 15-16

Puʻunēnē Avenue in both directions from Wākea Avenue to Papa Avenue will be closed for restriping work from 9 p.m., Thursday, May 15, to 5 a.m., Friday, May 16.

Emergency repair of Piʻilani Highway culvert near Nuʻu Bay, May 5 – October 2025

Motorists are advised that reconstruction of the culvert on Piʻilani Highway near Nuʻu Bay in East Maui begins on Monday May 5, 2025, and runs through October 2025.

Asphalt repairs on Kaʻahumanu Avenue on Monday, March 31

Maui motorists are advised of potential traffic delays on Monday, March 31, due to asphalt repair work on Kaʻahumanu Avenue (Route 32) in Kahului.

Single lane closure on Maui Veterans Highway for traffic signal work, Jan. 23-24

The right single lane in the westbound direction will be closed on both sides of the Maui Veterans Highway intersection with Cane Haul Road from 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23 to 6 a.m., Friday Jan. 24.

Lanes closed at Honoapiʻilani and Kapunakea intersection for sewer line work

Motorists on Maui are advised of potential traffic delays due to lane closures at the intersection of Honoapiʻilani Highway (Route 30) and Kapunakea Street in Lahaina for sewer line installation work for the Kaiāulu o Kūkuʻia Affordable Housing project.

A Holiday Lane Closure Restriction runs from Monday, Dec. 23, through Sunday, Jan. 5. Only closures with demonstrated need (e.g., necessary for safety or to avoid lengthy construction delays) have been approved and are on this list. There will be no lane closures on Wednesday, Jan. 1, in observance of New Year’s Day.

Maui lane closures for the week of Nov. 30 – Dec. 6

The state Department of Transportation will be conducting road work this week that will result in lane closures at various locations. Lane closure schedules may change at any time without further notice. All projects are weather permitting. 

Night road work set Nov. 12 for intersection of Nāpilihau Street and Honoapiʻilani Highway

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users that lanes will be closed periodically at the Nāpilihau Street and Honoapiʻilani Highway intersection for striping work from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Nov. 12. If needed, work will continue on Nov. 14.

Closures continue on Kaʻahumanu Ave.

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users that eastbound and westbound lanes of Kaʻahumanu Ave. (Route 32) between Kāne St. and Lono Ave. will be impacted by water line work for the Maui Palms Hampton Inn project from Monday, Oct. 7 through Friday morning, Oct. 11.

Continued nighttime and daytime closures on Kaʻahumanu Ave. for utility work

Eastbound and westbound lanes of Kaʻahumanu Ave. (Route 32) between Kāne St. and Lono Ave. will be impacted by water line work for the Maui Palms Hampton Inn project from Monday, Sept. 30 to Friday, Oct. 4. The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises motorists of the ongoing work and asks people to drive with caution in the area.

Overnight utility work to impact traffic on Honoapi‘ilani near Kā‘anapali Parkway, Sept. 29-30

Hawaiian Electric crews will be conducting overnight work for equipment upgrades using bucket trucks on Honoapi‘ilani Highway between mile markers 23 and 24 near Halelo Street across of the Kā‘anapali Parkway in the West Maui area on Sunday, Sept. 29 at 8 p.m. to Monday, Sept. 30 at 6 a.m. The work is being done to maintain reliable service and involves a pole replacement. Work will impact area traffic during this time. No service interruptions are planned for this work.

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises drivers that westbound lanes of Kaʻahumanu Ave. (Route 32) between Kāne Street and Lono Ave. will be impacted by water line work for the Maui Palms Hampton Inn project on Thursday, Sept. 12.

Portion of Kekaulike Ave. in Kula to close for approximately nine months

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation is notifying highway users and residents that beginning Monday, Sept. 9, a portion of Kekaulike Ave. (Route 377) between Waiakoa Road and ʻAlae Road will be closed for 24 hours, seven days a week, for approximately nine months.

Shoulder and lane closure on Kahului Beach Road, Aug. 20-23

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users that crews will be making improvements and conducting a cleanup of the makai shoulder of Kahului Beach Road (Route 3400) in the vicinity of Wahinepiʻo Ave. and Kanaloa Ave.

Two lanes to be closed on Honoapi‘ilani Highway near Lahaina Square Shopping Center for shoulder work

Hawai‘i Department of Transportation crews will close two southbound lanes and the makai shoulder of Honoapi‘ilani Highway (Route 30) between Papalāua Street and Lahainaluna Road from 7 a.m., Monday, Aug. 19 to 6 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 20.

Nighttime single-lane closure on Keawe St. near Lahaina Bypass for water, electrical work

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises highway users of nighttime lane closures along the state-owned portion of Keawe St. adjacent to the Lahaina Bypass (Route 3000) beginning on Wednesday, April 24.

Motorists advised to slow down when traveling east on Kaʻahumanu at Lono Ave.

The Hawai‘i Department of Transportation advises the traveling public to slow down while traveling east on Ka‘ahumanu Avenue when approaching the Lono Avenue intersection. The pavement at the intersection was damaged by a water main break Saturday night. The road surface is uneven and rough.
