Update 4 p.m. March 20, 2026: Water restored to Upper Kula areas

As of 4 p.m. on Friday, water service has been restored to the Upper Kula area following water main breaks caused by the recent kona storm.

Upper Kula outage update: Water restored up to Kamaʻole Rd

Water service has been restored up to Kamaʻole Road in Upper Kula. With water service restored, residents are advised to flush their water lines. If you have a separate storage tank, it is also recommended that you drain and flush the tank.

County DWS limits water conservation advisory to Upper Kula area only

The County of Maui Department of Water Supply has lifted water conservation advisories for all customer areas on Maui and Molokaʻi, with the exception of the Upper Kula area from Pilikino Place to Kanaio on Maui, where a conservation advisory remains in effect due to storm-related damage.

Crater Road reopens amid still active 574-acre fire; motorists urged to use caution

County of Maui officials announced today, July 24, 2024, that Crater Road is scheduled to reopen at noon; however, if conditions become unsafe, the road will again be closed.  Portions of Crater Road have been closed since July 10 due to the ongoing Crater Road fire in Upper Kula, which remains at 80% containment and 574 acres.

The Unsafe Water Advisory remains in effect in Upper Kula pending the results of a third round of testing that is now underway.

The County of Maui Department of Water Supply is issuing an unsafe water alert for areas of Upper Kula and Lahaina affected by wildfires. As a precaution, customers in those areas are advised not to drink and not to boil their water. Instead of tap water, customers are advised to use only bottled water for drinking, brushing teeth, making ice and preparing food.
