Update: Suspect struck by gunfire in shootout with police in Wailuku has died

The man involved in the officer-involved shooting succumbed to his injuries at the scene, according to an update from Maui police. The individual is described as a 40-year-old Pāʻia man. Police say the man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.

Online community meeting on Waiʻale Road Extension to be held Dec. 5
