Friday Weather Updates: Maui Flood Advisory in effect until 9:45 p.m.
The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Advisory for Maui until 9:45 p.m. At 6:36 p.m., radar showed heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms over Upcountry Maui, with rain falling at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour. Additional heavy showers will be possible over the next few hours. Some locations that will experience flooding include: Kahului, Kīhei, Kula, Kēōkea, Pukalani, Makawao, Hāliʻimaile, Wailea, Pāʻia, ʻUlupalakua, Puʻunēnē, Haʻikū-Paʻuwela, Paʻuwela, Māʻalaea, Mākena, Huelo, Keʻanae, Haleakalā National Park, Hoʻokipa Beach Park and Kailua.
Flood Watch continues: Kona low brings threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms
A kona low west of the islands continues to threaten the state with the potential for heavy rain and thunderstorms. A Flood Watch remains in effect until Thursday afternoon for the entire state. There is also a Winter Weather Advisory in effect through Thursday morning for the Big Island summits.
Winter Weather Advisory for Big Island Summits until 12 p.m., Nov. 4
The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the summits of Hawaiʻi Island until noon on Friday, Nov. 4, 2022. Freezing rain is expected, especially above the 13,000 foot elevation.
Winter Weather Advisory for Big Island Summits above 12,500 feet
The advisory calls for periods of freezing rain, drizzle and snow at elevations above 12,500 feet. Total snow accumulations of 2-4 inches are possible along with light ice accumulations.
Summit District of Haleakalā National Park Temporarily Closed
The Summit District of Haleakalā National Park is temporarily closed due to winter weather conditions effective April 11, 2021 at 3 p.m. The closure begins at the Summit Entrance Station on Haleakalā Highway extending up to the summit. The Summit District of Haleakalā National Park will reopen once conditions improve.

A cold front over the central islands will continue to move down the island chain through tonight, according to the latest Area Synopsis issued by the National Weather Service in Honolulu.

The NWS is forecasting heavy snow and patchy ice with additional snow accumulations of up to 4 inches, mainly above 12,000 foot elevation.
