Island Energy Services challenges Hawaiʻi customers to help raise $100,000 for American Red Cross disaster relief
Island Energy Services has increased its American Red Cross fundraising match from $20,000 to $50,000, with a goal of raising a combined $100,000 for disaster relief efforts across Hawaiʻi.

Once complete, the Kilohana modular housing project will become a temporary haven for up to 167 individuals and families – a Lahaina location where wildfire survivors can plan for the future.
Haleakalā Crater Road fire Saturday update 7 p.m.: 70% contained, advisory lifted for area residents, shelter on standby
The Crater Road fire has consumed more than 500 acres and was 40% contained at last report. Due to improving conditions Maui County officials have lifted the advisory for residents in affected areas to prepare for potential evacuations. The advisory was issued at 4:11 p.m. on Friday for the area above Kekaulike and Haleakalā highways between Upper Kimo and Waipoli roads, and was lifted at 6:57 p.m. today. Fire crews from Maui Fire Department, DOFAW, National Parks, and Air National Guard were on scene throughout the day, fighting the fire. An evacuation shelter at the King Kekaulike High School gym closed at 2 p.m., but will remain on standby if needed.
Red Cross emergency shelter opened at Eddie Tam Memorial Center in Makawao
Eddie Tam Memorial Center in Makawao will open at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 30, as an emergency shelter for those stranded by the Piʻilani Highway closure in East Maui.

Golf tournament fundraiser to benefit Women Helping Women, The Maui Farm
The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui will host its eighth annual golf tournament fundraiser on Sept. 9 at Pukalani Country Club to support Women Helping Women, which offers emergency shelter and programs for victims of domestic violence, and The Maui Farm, which provides safe transitional housing and farm-based, family-centered programs.

Firefighters continue to battle the Upcountry/Kula fire that was about 60% contained as of Sunday evening. The water is unsafe to drink or cook with in the impacted areas.

Family Life Center, Inc. has been named as the social service agency to receive a County of Maui grant of four County-owned mobile housing units that were acquired at the start of the pandemic to address emergency needs.
Work Begins on 20 Temporary Emergency Shelters at Waiale Park in Wailuku
The County of Maui begins construction tomorrow, May 22 on an estimated 20 temporary emergency shelters at Waiale Park in Wailuku for displaced families and individuals impacted by COVID-19.
