Lee most recently served as the organization’s Director of Community Impact and as Interim CEO since July 2025. She provides oversight of 60 programs and is responsible for a budget of more than $5 million.

Hale Makua announces new ‘CarePlex’ and workforce housing initiatives on Maui

Hale Makua Health Services, a Maui-born nonprofit serving the island for 80 years, today announced two landmark projects inspired by the community. The first project is an innovative health care complex in collaboration with Hawaiʻi Medical Service Association (HMSA) currently referred to as the “CarePlex.” The second project is a 100-unit workforce housing development.

The tour did not elaborate on the status of the event past 2026, but noted that ongoing drought conditions, water conservation requirements, agronomic conditions and logistical challenges were the main factors in the event not being held this year on Maui.
