The clock is ticking on negotiations after the contract for the union that represents about 930 employees of Maui Health expired on Monday night.

Maui Health’s Wound Care Program Director Jessica Acop, BSN, RN, MBA, has earned the RestorixHealth Rising Star Leadership Award, according to an announcement by Maui Health.

Maui Health will host a Maui Healthcare Career Fair on Friday, Sept. 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the main lobby of Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku.

Pacific Permanente Group announced on Wednesday the addition of June Kim, M.D., MBA to its pulmonology department at Maui Memorial Medical Center and the Maui Memorial Medical Center Outpatient Clinic. Kim will provide specialized care for residents with chronic lung diseases and other related conditions.

Maui Memorial Medical Center has again earned the highly distinguished Gold Plus and Target: Honor Roll Quality Achievement Awards from the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines program for excellence in heart and stroke care.  This year marks the 16th consecutive year that MMMC has been awarded and more than 10 consecutive calendar years of Gold Plus achievement.

The Coast Guard and Hawaiʻi Life Flight medically transported an ailing 58-year-old man from the Maui Memorial Medical Center to the Straub Medical Center on Oʻahu, Monday. The man had suffered cardiac arrest while on Maui and was in need of transport with advanced critical care.

A future 60-bed Maui veterans home for the long-term health care of island veterans and their spouses is in the planning stages, with possible locations in Central Maui.

Maui Health’s Chief Philanthropy Officer Melinda Sweany has been honored with the prestigious “Women Who Mean Business Award” by Pacific Business News (PBN). Sweany was recognized for her outstanding leadership at the 2024 Women Who Mean Business Award Gala, held on March 28, 2024, in Waikīkī, Oʻahu.

Pacific Permanente Group, a premiere Maui-based medical group providing health care services in nearly a dozen specialties, has recently added another orthopaedic surgeon to its growing team on the Valley Isle.  

Maui Health will host a Maui Health Care Career Fair on Friday, April 5, 1-4 p.m., and Saturday, April 6, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Maui Memorial Medical Center in Wailuku. The career fair will help provide individualized guidance for anyone looking to start or expand a career in health care, including application assistance and on-the-spot interviews for qualified applicants.

Maui Health Foundation held a groundbreaking and blessing ceremony on Feb. 12 for construction of 16 homes on the Maui Lani Fairways property to help healthcare providers impacted by the wildfires and to recruit desperately needed healthcare professionals to work on Maui.

A fundraiser has been set up to help the family of Jason “Jay” Carter, the 39-year-old resident of Haʻikū who died Dec. 30 from a shark bite while surfing at Pāʻia Bay on the North Shore of Maui.

Maui Health’s Medical Staff Office is launching a special Holiday Toy Drive on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2023, to support the children and families of Maui Health’s employees and physicians affected by the recent wildfires on Maui, and other families who have faced challenges this year.  Donations will be accepted at Maui Memorial Medical Center’s circular driveway, adjacent to the main lobby entrance, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. 

Maui Health continued its annual holiday tradition of giving by donating more than 4,600 combined pounds of turkey, vegetarian roast, and rice to the Maui Food Bank. The donation was delivered on Monday, and included nearly 250 frozen turkeys and vegetarian roasts, and a full pallet of 15-pound bags of rice.
