Maui Coronavirus Updates

Hawaiʻi has reached the 1 million mark for doses of vaccine administered statewide. In Maui County, more than 92,000 doses have been administered, with 46 percent of the population in Maui County initiating a vaccine and 27 percent are fully vaccinated.

The state Department of Health reports that there were 98 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Friday, including 67 on O‘ahu, 17 on Maui, three on Hawai‘i Island, and 11 in Hawai‘i residents diagnosed while out of state. There were a total of 1,197 cases logged over the past two weeks, 288 of them in Maui County.

The state Department of Health reports that there were 98 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Thursday, including 59 on O‘ahu, 24 on Maui, 14 on Hawai‘i Island, and one on Moloka‘i. There were a total of 1,242 cases logged over the past two weeks, 303 of them in Maui County.

This includes: seven in the travel/lodging/tourism sector, six at educational settings, two at a food suppliers, two at restaurants, two in occupational settings, one cluster at a correctional facility, and one at a place of worship.

Vaccination clinics in Central and West Maui that were scheduled to administer the Johnson and Johnson vaccine this month, will be administering the Moderna vaccine instead.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has begun accepting applications for funeral assistance for those in Hawai‘i who have lost loved ones to COVID-19.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and US Food and Drug Administration is recommending a pause in the use and distribution of the Johnson & Johnson (Janssen) vaccine after six reported US cases of a rare and severe type of blood clot in individuals who had received the vaccine.

The Maui Community Correctional Center is now clear of all active COVID-19 cases, according to the state Department of Public Safety. The department today reported that the remaining two inmates with active positive cases have since recovered.

There were a total of 1,307 cases logged over the past two weeks, 337 of them in Maui County.

The state Department of Health reports that there were 114 additional COVID-19 cases reported in Hawai‘i on Saturday, including 74 on O‘ahu, 27 on Maui, 12 on Hawai‘i Island, and one in a Hawai‘i resident diagnosed while out of state. There were a total of 1,320 cases logged over the past two weeks, 352 of them in Maui County.

The Maui District Health Office has three Moderna clinics and one Johnson and Johnson vaccine clinic planned this month at the University of Hawaiʻi Maui College.

Governor David Ige signed a 19th emergency proclamation for COVID-19 on Friday, which extends the eviction moratorium, prohibiting evictions of tenants for failure to pay all or a portion of the rent, maintenance fees, utility charges, taxes or other required fees for the rental unit.
