Maui police have launched an arson and burglary investigation into an incident reported early Tuesday at the Hawaiʻi Paroling Authority on Wili Pā Lp, Wailuku.

Maui police responded to 14 burglaries, 18 vehicle thefts and 21 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from July 28 to Aug. 3, 2019.

The Maui Fire Department is warning the public about a telephone scam that is currently being attempted in Maui County. The scam comes amid a large wildfire that has burned 5,300 acres below Pukalani since it first started Thursday afternoon.
