Rotary awards $50,000 to ArtCentered as part of Maui Fires Relief

The primary objective of ArtCentered is to offer consistent and compassionate art therapy services to fire survivors and the community at large. The positive impact of art on mental health has been evident at their locations, including Honokōwai Beach Park and Royal Lahaina Resort, according to organizers.

School supplies drive to benefit elementary schools affected by Maui wildfires on July 12

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Maui chapter will host a school supply drive at the Kalana O’ Maui Building (200 S. High St.) in Wailuku on Friday, July 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa Hosts Kōkua for Maui – Shop & Show Aloha, July 5

Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa will host its next Kōkua for Maui event on Friday, July 5, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the resort. Scholarships awarded in honor of Lahaina fire victim, Clyde Wakida

The Clyde Wakida Scholarship Fund was established through donations from friends and family after the August fire.  This year the Fund awarded five recipients, each receiving $2,000. Recipients were: Carla Mae Agrade, Judy Dela Cruz, Blessy Calapit, Cecelia Steiner and John Tumpap.

Independent Energy President Makes $50,000 Donation to Maui Wildfire Relief

The president of solar energy company Independent Energy, Desta Rudolph, has donated $50,000 to Project Empower, a nonprofit that has focused on helping Maui recover from deadly wildfires that destroyed the historic town of Lahaina, displacing thousands of residents. The donation will bolster the collective efforts of a number of organizations to build 88 units of emergency housing at the 10-acre ʻOhana Hope Village.

KS Children’s Chorus draws nearly 1,000 people to free community concert on Maui

Kamehameha Schools Children’s Chorus hosted a free community concert Friday night at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center. The concert, He Leo Aloha No Maui, drew nearly a thousand people to “share the gift of mele to bring healing and hope to the people of Maui,” according to the organizers. Children from the Children’s Chorus sang “O Lahaina, E Hoi Ka Nani” during the event.
