Three time Grammy Winner Kalani Pe’a has released a new Christmas Album titled “Purple Hawaiian Christmas.” Along with the new release Pe’a will be taking his new music on tour to: Beaverton, Seattle, Berkeley, Honolulu, Kailua-Kona and the Kohala Coast on Hawaiʻi Island.

Maui sherbet makers find a cool niche in sharing a family treat, tradition

When Japan merchant Jokichi Tasaka arrived in Hawaiʻi in the early 1900s, he brought with him his talent as a confectioner, making Japanese candy, including sweet rice crackers and azuki bean-filled pastries such as manju and mochi. But it was his son Gunji who in the 1920s would eventually create a sherbet called “Guri Guri” that continues to be a popular treat on Maui today.

A Small Business Saturday event takes place this weekend, Nov. 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Wailuku Town. This year, there are 13 participating shops and retailers on Market and Main Streets.

Maui has the largest vacation rental supply in Hawaiʻi with 211,900 available unit nights

In October, Maui County had the largest vacation rental supply of all four counties with 211,900 available unit nights. That’s up +2.9% from 2021, but down -34.5% from 2019.

Nov. 17-23, 2022 COVID-19 update: 10 deaths, 1,169 new infections in Hawaiʻi

The Hawaiʻi State Department of Health reported 1,169 new COVID-19 cases for the week of Nov. 17-23, 2022. This is well below the most recent peak of 8,924 new infections reported during the week of May 19-25, 2022. There were 10 COVID-19 deaths this week.

Four Maui recruits graduate as part of the Ocean Safety Bureau’s 4th Recruit Class

Strong northeast winds and significant north swell possible on Thanksgiving

Strong northeast winds are expected to develop after a cold front passes, potentially resulting in a period of very windy conditions. Additionally, a powerful low pressure system passing north of the area will generate a large north swell that will build Wednesday night, with the peak of the swell potentially coinciding with extreme high tides Thursday and Friday mornings.

DOH approves third medical cannabis retail dispensary for Pono Life Sciences on Maui

The Hawai‘i State Department of Health has issued a formal notice to proceed to retail to Pono Life Sciences Maui, LLC (PONO LIFE MAUI) after it passed a final on-site inspection for its third retail facility on the Valley Isle.
