As of noon on Monday, April 13, 2020, there are 504 cases of COVID-19 identified in Hawaiʻi with 5 new cases. Maui County has 2 new cases for a total of 86 confirmed positive. Of the 86 cases in Maui County, at least 40 have been released from isolation, and 7 have required hospitalization.

Recent COVID-19 Cases Include Church Cluster on Maui

Maui has a new cluster of COVID-19 positive cases linked to a church on Maui. Initial news of the cluster surfaced at Friday’s state press conference in which state Health Director Dr. Bruce Anderson said the cluster existed, but could not identify which island it was associated with or what church group was affected.

A woman, over 65-years-old is the ninth death from COVID-19. State officials say she had underlying medical conditions and had tested positive for the virus when she was hospitalized on O‘ahu.

Hawai‘i Coronavirus Total Now 486: 21 New Cases, Maui Total is 80

Maui County has 14 new cases for a total of 80 confirmed positive (yesterday’s count was adjusted upward by one by the state Department of Health following their initial noon update). Of the 80 cases in Maui County, at least 40 have been released from isolation, and 7 have required hospitalization. Of the eight deaths in the state, three are in Maui County.

Mayor Urges Easter at Home; Prioritize Health of Family

“The meaning of this holiday does not change.  The way we celebrate must change,” said Mayor Victorino. “Please do not go to another house and have another over to yours.  Getting together with friends and family could directly put them at risk for COVID-19.  These are difficult times for all of us, but making changes now will save lives later,” said Mayor Victorino.
