The two teams joined in the potluck tradition after Lahainaluna beat Moloka‘i in the Famers’ MIL 11-player football debut on Saturday night.

Access to Keōpūolani Park facilities will be temporarily restricted to competition use Saturday morning, Aug. 31, to host a Maui Interscholastic League Cross Country event in preparation for the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association State Championship event in the fall, the County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation announced.

Tournament officials from The Sentry today announced ticket options for the 2025 event when the first signature event of the PGA TOUR regular season returns to the Plantation Course from Jan. 2-5.

Below is a list of events that have been confirmed by the Hawaiʻi High School Athletic Association as cancelled or postponed for this weekend: Girls Volleyball – Haleakalā Waldorf at Lānaʻi (canceled); Girls Volleyball – Molokaʻi at Seabury (postponed); Football – Maui at Keaʻau (canceled); 8-man Football – Seabury at Hāna (postponed.)

With the tying run at third base, the Central East Maui Little League All-Stars fell just short in a 4-3 elimination game loss to Lake Mary, Fla., on Wednesday. They were one of the final eight teams in the tournament.

The Central East Maui All-Stars suffered a slim 4-3 loss to Lake Mary Little League of Florida, the Southeast region representative on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2024, ending their World Series run in Williamsport, Pa. Florida moves on to play Nevada after the Mountain team was defeated 5-2 against Texas earlier in the day. The winner of Florida vs. Nevada will advance to the US Championship game on Saturday against Texas.

Tournament officials from The Sentry today announced ticket options for the 2025 event when the first Signature Event of the PGA TOUR Regular Season returns to The Plantation Course from Jan. 2-5 (Thursday through Sunday). As part of the TOUR’s Opening Drive, The Sentry is the season-opening event for the 2025 FedExCup Regular Season as it returns to a calendar-year schedule for the second consecutive year.

The Central East Maui All-Stars defeated Pennsylvania 3-1 in their fourth game of the Little League World Series. The victory over Council Rock Newtown Little League, the Mid-Atlantic regional representative, puts the Maui boys within two games of the US Championships.

The 2024 Maui Invitational college basketball tournament celebrates its 40th anniversary by returning to the historic Lahaina Civic Center on Maui, Nov. 25-27, 2024. This marks the tournament’s return to Maui for the first time since the 2023 wildfires. Last year’s event was held on Oʻahu.

The Hawaiʻi State Junior Golf Association | First Tee – Hawaiʻi (HSJGA|FTH) conducted the 2024 Kāʻanapali Junior Classic at Kāʻanapali Royal Golf Course this weekend on Aug. 17-18. This event was 36 holes. A total of 35 junior golfers from across the state teed up in the event. This tournament awards points for HSJGA | FTH Player of the Year and the season race to the coveted HSJGA | FTH Tour Championship on Maui in December (an event that is by invitation only to top finishers on the HSJGA|FTH Points List throughout the season).

The Central East Maui All-Stars lost their third game in the Little League World Series on Friday with a 3-2 loss against Paseo Verde Little League of Henderson, Nevada, the Mountain regional team.  They are now 2-1 for the series.

With respective wins in breakaway and tie-down roping at the Kaonoulu Ranch Open on Friday, Kula’s Elizabeth and Daniel Miranda have punched their ticket to The American West Coast Contender Regionals in Las Vegas.

The Maui 12U boys advance to Game 22 at 9 a.m. HST (3 p.m. ET) on Monday, Aug. 19 against Mountain (Paseo Verde Little League of Henderson, Nevada).

The Central East Maui All-Stars won their opening round game in the Little League World Series on Wednesday with a 3-1 victory against Salem, NH, the New England regional team.  The Maui 12U boys advance to Game 10 at 9 a.m. HST (3 p.m. ET) on Friday, Aug. 16 against Great Lakes (Hinsdale Little League of Illinois).

A huge weekend is on the horizon for Hawaiʻi’s rodeo athletes. One event that shouldn’t fly under the radar is The American Rodeo Contender Tournament qualifier at Kaonoulu Ranch on Friday.

The Central East Maui Little League majors have secured a spot in the Little League World Series after defeating Eastvale Little League of Southern California on Friday 2-1 for the West Region title. The 12U boys from Maui will play in the opening round of the Little League World Series in Game 2 on Wednesday at 9 a.m. (3 p.m. ET) against Salem, NH, the New England regional team.

The Central East Maui Little League majors have secured a spot in the championship game of the West Region Tournament taking place this week in San Bernardino, California. They will play Eastvale Little League of Southern California at 3 p.m. HST (6 p.m. PT) on Friday, Aug. 9. The Maui 12U team is one win away from a regional title and a securing a spot in the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport Pa.

Glenn Sato, a 71-year-old retiree, won the Tako Division at the 36th annual Larry Libres Fishing & Diving Tournament, Saturday at Kanahā Beach Park in Kahului. Sato is the oldest tako champion in the 36-year history of the event. A total of 201 divers participated in the north shore event with 90 octopuses brought to the scale by 56 divers.

They move on to play Eastvale Little League of Southern California at 11 a.m. HST (2 p.m. PT) on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024.  They are two wins away from a regional title and a securing a spot in the Little League Baseball World Series in Williamsport Pa. Tuesday’s game will be carried on ESPN.
