County of Maui to Accept Fall 2021 Season Tri-Annual Permits From May 1-7
The County of Maui Department of Parks and Recreation will begin accepting applications for Fall 2021 Tri-Annual Permits – for leagues and recreational programs – on Saturday, May 1 through 4 p.m. on Friday, May 7. Permit applications are limited to those for use of pools, fields and tennis courts during the period of Aug. 1 to Dec. 31, 2021.

In its 36th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, The Gatorade Company today announced Hunter Shields of Maui High School as its 2020-21 Gatorade Hawai‘i Boys Cross Country Player of the Year. Shields is the first Gatorade Hawai‘i Boys Cross Country Player of the Year to be chosen from Maui High School.

2021 Molokaʻi Hoe and Nā Wāhine O Ke Kai Canoe Races Canceled due to Pandemic
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the Boards of The Oʻahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association and Nā Wāhine O Ke Kai have cancelled the 2021 championship canoe races: Hawaiian Airlines Nā Wāhine O Ke Kai (scheduled for Sept. 26) and Hawaiian Airlines Molokaʻi Hoe (scheduled for Oct. 10).
Campaign Launched to Bring UH Football to Campus
The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa launched a campaign to raise funds for a project retrofitting the Clarence T.C. Ching Athletics Complex. Funds raised for the complex will benefit UH Football by bringing home games from the Aloha Stadium to the UH Mānoa campus.

UH Football Team Under Quarantine After Five Students Test Positive For COVID-19
The student-athletes are quarantining at their places of residence and will be monitored by the athletic departmentʻs medical team and academic support staff. The 13 student-athletes who live on campus will be temporarily relocated off-campus today to quarantine and be cared for. None of the student-athletes who have tested positive have in-person classes this semester or live on campus.
