The Central East Maui Little League team returns to Maui this afternoon after an honorable performance that concluded this weekend with a second place finish in the US and a fourth place overall finish in the series.

A World Series journey has come to an end for the Central East Maui Little League Team after a 9-5 loss to the Eastbank Little League of Louisiana.

The Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui and title sponsor Pukalani Superette will host the club’s sixth annual golf tournament fundraiser on Sept. 14 at Pukalani Country Club.

The Central East Maui team from Wailuku, Maui advances to the US Championship game in the Little League World Series taking place this week in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The event raised $7,539 for Maui Special Olympics and $1,625 for Lahainaluna High School Golf Programs.

The Central East Maui All-Stars defeated Sunnyside, Arizona, 4-1 on Saturday to secure the Little League West Regional title.  The regional game was played in San Bernardino, California.
