There were 90 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today including 81 on O‘ahu, five on Hawai‘i Island, two in Maui County (both in Kīhei) and two in Hawai‘i residents who tested positive outside of the state.

Two hours of testimony was received on Wednesday relating to the fast-track Liahuʻula housing project proposed for development in Olowalu. The project calls for the construction of 59 lots on 28 acres of mostly undeveloped land mauka of the Honoapiʻilani Highway, between the Olowalu General Store and Camp Olowalu.

Ige Extends COVID-19 Emergency Period Through October, Authorizes Pre-Travel Testing to Start Oct. 15
Governor David Ige today signed a 13th supplementary emergency proclamation that extends the COVID-19 emergency period in Hawaiʻi through Oct. 31. However, beginning Oct. 15, a pre-travel testing option will allow travelers an alternative to the mandatory 14-day quarantine.

In West Maui, the department reports that water from the Honolua Ditch has been running very low, and plans call for the temporarily shut down the Mahinahina Water Treatment Facility this week to maintain water supply for fire protection. The shutdown will remain in effect until weather conditions improve.

There were 168 new COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i today including 154 on O‘ahu, 13 on Hawai‘i Island and one in Maui County. Hawai‘i’s COVID-19 death toll increased to 122 with two new deaths on O‘ahu confirmed by the state Department of Health.

Samantha Iokia, 32, of Kahului along with her two minor children were reported missing by a family member on Monday, Sept. 21, 2020 at around 6:24 p.m.
Maui Water Use and Development Plan Public Hearing Requested for Oct. 9
“The updated Water Use and Development Plan for Maui will provide a 20-year, resource-focused blueprint for the management and use of the island’s precious water resources,” Sugimura said. “This update has undergone extensive review to reach this point, but it’s important to take all possible steps ensure everyone has a chance to weigh in before the council votes.”

Roselani Place Reports 4 New COVID-19 Cases, Cluster Rises to 56
Four new COVID-19 cases were reported at the Roselani Place assisted living community on Maui since last week, bringing the total number of infections reported at the facility to 56 since mid-August. The positive cases include 28 staff and 28 residents.
