4 West Maui schools closed today
King Kamehameha III Elementary, Princess Nāhiʻenaʻena Elementary, Lahaina Intermediate and Lahainaluna High School will be closed today, Tuesday, Feb. 10, due to weather conditions and extended power outages impacting the available water supply at the campuses. The schools are notifying staff and students’ families directly.

State to reopen for regular service on Tuesday following severe weather event
Gov. Josh Green announced today that most state offices, agencies and services that were closed for severe weather on Monday, Feb. 9, will reopen for regular service to the public on Tuesday. There may be some exceptions, should a state park or other facility have suffered weather-related damage. For example, the state Supreme Court will have partial capacity after the weather toppled a large banyan tree.

8 a.m. update: Power restored to 80% of customers who experienced outages overnight
Crews are repairing a broken pole and downed lines in the Pi‘iholo, Upcountry area to restore about 230 customers and are also responding to other pocket outages. Around 6:45 a.m. today, crews restored power to about 960 customers in parts of Makawao who were out overnight due to strong winds and heavy rain that brought down a pole and power lines.
