Sen. Schatz Introduces Bipartisan Bill To Help Stop Illegal Deforestation Globally
US Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) and US Representatives Earl Blumenauer (D-OR) and Brian Fitzpatrick (R-PA) today unveiled the Fostering Overseas Rule of Law and Environmentally Sound Trade (FOREST) Act that creates a framework for the federal government to deter commodity-driven illegal deforestation around the world.
Oct. 6, 2021 COVID-19 Update: 168 New Cases in Hawai‘i, 7 Deaths
There were 168 additional COVID-19 cases in Hawai‘i on Wednesday. The latest data represents a total of 3,883 “active” cases over two weeks. Maui County’s seven day average of cases peaked at 57.6 per 100,000 on Aug. 25, and has been on a steady decline since the beginning of September, dropping to 12.6 per 100,000 today.
PARKLINQ Expanding to Maui, Generating Revenue to Support Environmental Projects
PARKLINQ, a Hawai‘i company that makes it easier to find, reserve and pay for affordable parking from a mobile phone, is expanding to Maui. The company says their services can be used to benefit Valley Isle nonprofit organizations, which can raise funds to protect the environment.
