The Lahaina Restoration Foundation announces that paid parking will resume at the Baldwin Home parking lot in Lahaina beginning May 18, 2026. Parking fees collected at the lot directly support the restoration and rebuilding of Lahaina’s historic sites.

Prior to the 2023 wildfire, the Baldwin Home was the oldest house still standing on the island of Maui. It was a recognizable landmark in the heart of historic Lahaina. Recent storms have resulted in further damage to the structure.

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation reports that a portion of one of the stone walls at the historic Baldwin Home collapsed following the recent storm that impacted Maui, just days after stabilization work had begun on the structure.

Crews have begun stabilization work on the historic Baldwin Home gutted in the Lahaina wildfire in August 2023. The work marks the first major physical step toward rebuilding the landmark since the disaster, the Lahaina Restoration Foundation announced this week.

Following one week of operations at the State of Hawaiʻi’s Lahaina Small Boat Harbor, some adjustments are being made to the public access plan for the Lahaina Historic District. Working in partnership with members of the community and tour boat operators, the County of Maui is making the following changes:

The earliest building, the Baldwin Home, could potentially be finished around 2028, while the last buildings, the Seamen’s Hospital and Plantation House, would take until roughly 2032.

The Lahaina Restoration Foundation announced the completion of the Historic Building Restoration Master Plan, a comprehensive roadmap for the restoration and reconstruction of eight of Lahaina’s most significant historic landmarks.

Beginning Saturday, May 24, 2025, access to the shoreline on the north and south ends of Lahaina Harbor will be made available for recreational, noncommercial purposes, the County of Maui Office of Recovery announced.

“I’m really pleased. From the first photographs I saw it looked like everything was gone and that’s not the case. There are important historic buildings here that I think can be repaired,” said State Historic Preservation Division Administrator Dr. Alan Downer.

Theo Morrison has been a staunch advocate for the restoration of historic buildings and the preservation of Maui history, through her work as executive director of the Lahaina Restoration Foundation for the past 15 years. Morrison, once a fiber artist creating baskets from a variety of natural materials, has helped to successfully weave the stories of Lahaina’s past into an amazing tour through history. Lahaina Quest programs are back this winter with a series of free keiki and family programs during the winter school break.

These funds will be used to complete a building assessment of the stone and coral block structure, built in 1835 in Lahaina. The assessment will result in a prioritized, cost-estimated list of preservation needs for the building.

The photos of landmark buildings and memorable Lahaina scenes were taken between the 1920s and the 1940s.

Lahaina Restoration Foundation announced the return of of their candle lit tours of the Baldwin Home Museum beginning Friday, Sept. 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. The home tour will return alongside a new exhibit featuring historic photographs of sports teams from the Pioneer Mill era.

After the Baldwin heirs deeded the home in 1967 to Lahaina Restoration Foundation, loyal supporters procured plans for building a grape arbor from a relative in St. Helena, California.

Nā Hōkū Hanohano Award-winning entertainer Ikaika Blackburn, will perform at the free Hawaiian Music Series concert on Sept. 29th at the Baldwin Home Museum.

This year, Baldwin Home Museum in Lahaina will host a free open-air classical music concert featuring professional and amateur musicians on May 21.
