Scouting America, Aloha Council has announced a landmark donation of $1 million from Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. This contribution will be instrumental in replacing the bunkhouse cabins at Camp Maluhia, supporting program and operational needs council-wide, and strengthening its endowment. Bezos, who has a home on Maui, has shown support for the Aloha Council in the past, previously donating $500,000 in 2023.

Carnival Cruise Line welcomed 30 scouts from the Aloha Council of the Boy Scouts of America aboard the Carnival Miracle in Kahului as a gesture of appreciation for their assistance in providing essential supplies following the Maui wildfires.

The Makawao Rodeo Parade returned in full flair on Saturday after a three-year hiatus due to the pandemic. Spectators were greeted in true paniolo style with mounted and walking units, and popular stick horse races for keiki. The 2023 Parade Grand Marshal, Donna Otsuka directed the keiki pāʻū unit, and Duane Hamamura was the event’s Special Honoree this year. 

The Maui County Council, Boy Scouts of America will honor four individuals for their service and volunteerism at the organization’s upcoming Annual Dinner.

More than a dozen Maui non-profit organizations benefitted from the 2018 Sentry Tournament of Champions. Checks totaling over $310,000 were presented to the charities yesterday.

Boy Scouts of America announced a new Scouting program called “Lion” for Kindergarten-aged boys will be available as a national pilot for select councils including Maui County.

This year, 28 Maui County Scouts have earned the rank of Eagle with projects ranging from school construction and renovations, health clinics and more.

22 Eagle Scout projects were undertaken by Maui Scouts this year including projects on trail restoration, refurbishing preschools, invasive species, and a roof replacement project.

Since the tournament to Maui in 1999, the event and host organizations have donated a total of more than $5.6 million to Hawaiʻi community charities.

The fundraiser dinner held at the Hyatt Regency Maui drew more than 400 members of the community and raised approximately $40,000, net after expenses.

The award is the Council’s highest honor given to an individual, and will be issued during a celebratory dinner on Saturday, Oct. 17 at the Hyatt Regency Maui.

The six primary beneficiaries of the 2015 event include: the Boy Scouts of America – Maui County Council; the Friends of the Children’s Justice Center; Hale Makua Health Services; the J. Walter Cameron Center; Ka Lima O Maui; and the Lahainaluna High School Foundation.

The Hyundai Tournament of Champions has announced that the 2015 event has raised $341,000 for Maui charities. The tournament and host organizations have donated a grand total of over $5.3 million to Maui community charities since its move to Maui in 1999.

The system is expected to generate 63,495 kWh in its first year of production and save the Boy Scouts Maui chapter $425,000 over 20 years.

The Maui County Council recently held its Annual Banquet and recognized key volunteers for their outstanding service to Scouting and the Community.

The Hyundai Tournament of Champions raised a total of $333,185 for Maui charities during the 2014 event held in January at the The Plantation Course in Kapalua, according to a PGA TOUR press release announcement.

The Boy Scout Maui County Council hosted its first-ever Sportsman Challenge over the weekend on the grounds of Camp Maluhia in Waiheʻe.

As soon as the funds are released, it will reportedly trigger a $250,000 grant from the County of Maui, said board members, but additional funds are being sought to bring the facility up to modern day standards.

“More than ever before, working families, seniors on fixed incomes, and single parents are relying on the Maui Food Bank just to survive month to month,” said Cub-Master Stephen Gima.
