MEO installs board members for 2025-26, marks 60-year anniversary

MEO Open House celebrating 60-year anniversary draws a full house

As Maui Economic Opportunity marks its 60-year anniversary this year, the nonprofit poverty-fighting Community Action Agency held an open house Tuesday, Feb. 4, attended by more than 70 government officials, including Mayor Richard Bissen; community leaders and partners; and MEO Board Members and staff.

Gov. Josh Green, M.D., has named several community and business leaders to a number of important state boards and commissions. Among them are Maui residents Bruce Uʻu to the Land Use Commission, Carol Reimann to the Hawaiʻi Housing Finance and Development Corporation, Wesley Lo to the Board of Education, Elaine Yamashita to the Early Learning Board and Nathaniel Oswald to the Board of Agriculture.

Maui Economic Opportunity assisted 20,239 individuals and families and touched 46,971 lives in the 2022-23 fiscal year, according to the recently released “Respond, Respect, Recover: Maui Economic Opportunity Annual Report 2023.”
