Maui Economic Opportunity’s Employee of the Quarter Noelani Jensen is the first face many see when visiting MEO and often faces challenges as the Receptionist directing clients to appropriate services.
Christy Chung is MEO’s new Chief Operating Officer
Christy Chung has joined Maui Economic Opportunity as Chief Operating Officer. Her job is to manage, coordinate and support MEO’s day-to-day operations and more than 30 programs in the agency’s five departments and offices in Hāna and on Molokaʻi and Lānaʻi. She also is overseeing facilities and ensuring contract compliance.
English conversation classes available
English conversation classes for Spanish speakers are being offered by Maui Economic Opportunity’s Enlace Hispano program. The 12-class series will be held at MEO’s Wailuku classroom, 99 Mahalani St. The cost is $65, and financial aid is available. Housing coordinator Vanna Duarte, who is a steadfast supporter to Mauians struggling to stay in their homes, has been honored as Maui Economic Opportunity Employee of the Month.
Conversational English classes for Spanish speakers offered by MEO
A 12-class conversational English language course for Spanish speakers is being offered at Maui Economic Opportunity in Wailuku by the nonprofit’s Enlace Hispano program. The class series will be held twice a week – Wednesdays and Fridays – from 5 to 6:30 p.m. and runs from Nov. 6 to Dec. 20.
150 appointments needed to set Mexican Consulate visit to MEO
The Mexican Consulate tentatively plans to set up shop at Maui Economic Opportunity once again but requires 150 appointments to confirm the dates.
