Night traffic signal work to close lanes at Hāna Highway and Haleakalā Highway intersection

State DOT selects final route for Honoapiʻilani Highway realignment

A roadway alignment for a six-mile segment of Honoapiʻilani Highway at risk of eroding into the ocean has been determined in a final environmental impact statement issued this month by the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation, in coordination with the Federal Highway Administration.

Traffic to be alternated at night on Honoapiʻilani Highway for striping work

The one-lane closure will be near mile marker 14 and is scheduled for two nights Tuesday, Sept. 23 and Wednesday, Sept. 24. Work will begin both nights at 8:30 p.m. and will last until 3:30 the next morning, with the last closure ending on Thursday, Sept. 25.

Overnight closure for paving of Haleakalā Hwy near Kahului Airport , Sept. 20-21

The closure will be from 10 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 20 to 5 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 21. Haleakalā Highway on the west side of the Hāna Highway intersection will be fully closed to traffic. Those needing to access the airport will need to head to the closest entrance through Mayor Elmer F. Cravalho Way (Route 3800).

Air travelers advised of screening delays at Kahului and Kona airports

Due to baggage screening delays at the Kahului Airport (OGG), the state Department of Transportation is advising anyone traveling with checked luggage to arrive at the airport at least an hour and a half prior to their scheduled departure time.
