The Second Circuit courthouse Hoapili Hale is closed (as of 10 a.m. today) due to a temporary interruption of water service to the building.  Court operations are anticipated to resume at 7:45 a.m. tomorrow, Feb. 20, 2025.

The 2nd Circuit Court (Maui, Molokaʻi, and Lānaʻi) is seeking applicants for independent grand jury counsel.

“We were very fortunate that our courthouse was not affected during the devastating wildfires earlier this month,” said Second Circuit Chief Judge Peter T. Cahill. “Unfortunately, our Lahaina employees have suffered significant losses. I am inspired by their resilience and deeply appreciate their public service, and we in the Judiciary are committed to supporting them and the Lahaina community.” 

The Second Circuit Court recently completed an extensive renovation of the parking structure and entry area of Hoapili Hale, including the addition of needed security upgrades.  

Two renovation projects to improve security will begin this month at Hoapili Hale, the Second Circuit Courthouse in Wailuku.

The Hawaiʻi State Judiciary confirmed a second positive COVID-19 case involving an employee at Hoapili Hale on Maui. There are now 12 confirmed positive cases for Judiciary employees statewide including: nine on Oʻahu, two on Maui, and one on Hawaiʻi island.

A Hoapili Hale (Maui) employee, who was asymptomatic and took the test as a requirement for a new job, last worked on Aug. 31 and received a positive test result that night. The person has worked in the courtroom, always wearing a mask and adhering to CDC guidelines.

Effective Aug. 11 through Aug. 31, “No one shall enter Judiciary facilities in the Second, Third, and Fifth Circuits if they have traveled in the past 14 days, or have traveled inter-island to the Second, Third, or Fifth Circuits on or after Aug. 11, 2020, and 14 days has not passed since such travel.”

Starting today, hours at Maui’s second circuit court self-help center expand.  The center located at Hoapili Hale in Wailuku will be open Mondays and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Previously it was open only on Thursdays.

The attorneys provided free legal information to approximately 750 individuals who sought assistance at Maui’s courthouse Self-Help Center.

The Second Circuit Court, Hoapili Hale, is closed (as of 11:19 a.m. today, Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2018) due to a water main break.

Starting next week Monday, Aug. 6, 2018, an estimated 55,000 juror questionnaires will be mailed out to residents in Maui County.

Since the implementation of Hawaiʻi’s first Drug Court in 1996, more than 2,000 people have graduated across the state.

Circuit and family court criminal case documents filed on Jan. 23, 2017 and thereafter will be available for download and purchase online through eCourt Kokua.

The Second Circuit Court, Hoapili Hale, is closed (as of noon today) due to a sewage water leak. Maintenance crews have shut off all water to the building and clean-up efforts are underway.

The Maui Police Department will join the Sheriff’s Department this weekend in conducting a one day Joint Agency Emergency Preparedness Exercise.

The Second Circuit Court on Maui will be upgrading its security system configuration beginning on Friday, Oct. 9, 2015.

Completion of the two-day workshop is one of the mandatory requirements of becoming a court interpreter for the state court system. The Maui workshop takes place on February 28 and 29, 2012.
