Sewer service is now active for 153 properties from Kenui Street to Dickenson Street, makai of Honoapiʻilani Highway. With this latest update, approximately 90% of Lahaina’s County sewer system is now active.

County announces amended sewer service status for 28 West Maui lots
The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management’s Wastewater Reclamation Division announced that it has amended the Sewer Service Status from “red,” which indicates a property does not currently have active sewer service, to “green,” meaning the sewer service is active, for 28 properties in Lahaina including: 25 lots in Kuhua Camp area; and three lots on Lahainaluna Road.

The County of Maui Department of Environmental Management’s Wastewater Reclamation Division announced that it has amended the Sewer Service Status from “red” to “green,” meaning sewer service is now active for 15 properties including: one lot on Kaili Place, six lots near Kopili and Kuhua streets, and eight lots near Mall Place and Ainakea Road.

The specified lots have gone from “red,” which indicates a property does not currently have active sewer service, to “green,” meaning the sewer service is active for the property.
New milestone reached: USACE completes residential debris removal in Lahaina, commercial properties 64% cleared
The US Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with federal, state, and local agencies, has completed debris removal from all residential properties devastated by the August 2023 wildfires in Lahaina. The milestone marks the return of 1,390 completed residential properties to the County of Maui. Property owners are now able to apply for building permits as part of the next phase in the rebuilding process.
Ground blessing held for sewer main to serve the Kilohana temporary housing site in Lahaina
A ground blessing ceremony was held on Friday at Wahikuli Park, marking the start of a critical sewer line installation at the Kilohana Temporary Group Housing site in Lahaina. This project is part of the utility preparation for Kilohana, which will provide longer-term housing for survivors of the August 2023 Maui wildfires. The Kilohana site, which will soon feature 169 FEMA-procured modular housing units, ranging from one to three bedrooms.

EPA begins night operations on sanitary sewer lines in Lahaina starting Feb. 26
The US Environmental Protection Agency will begin clearing and inspecting sanitary sewer lines on Honoapiʻilani Highway and Keawe Street in Lahaina starting the week of Feb. 26. Department officials say work will take place between Leialiʻi Parkway and Keawe Street (from Wahikuli Wayside Park to Safeway on Honoapiʻilani Highway and from Minit Stop to Honoapiʻilani Highway on Keawe Street).
