Hawaiian Electric will be installing equipment upgrades overnight that may impact traffic between Mā‘alaea Bay Place and McGregor Point heading toward West Maui from Nov. 25-27 and again from Dec. 2-7.

To maintain reliable service, Hawaiian Electric crews will be conducting overnight equipment upgrades on Honoapi‘ilani Highway between mile markers 7 and 8 between Māʻalaea Bay Place to the McGregor Point and Lighthouse heading towards West Maui starting Tuesday, Nov. 12 to Friday, Nov. 22, from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., daily.

Initiated by the Mā‘alaea Village Association, the project seeks a management plan for coastal erosion at Mā‘alaea Bay Beach by exploring the feasibility of coastal resilience strategies, including erosion mitigation options and relocation of threatened structures. The project area includes an area from Mā‘alaea Harbor to Haycraft Park.
