The Maui Middle School Menehune Basketball League has announced the start of its 2026 season, with player evaluations underway for students in grades 6 through 8 across Maui County.

Kamehameha Schools Maui high school senior Kealoha Baricuatro has been named a finalist for the 2024 Jersey Mike’s Naismith High School Basketball Courage Award. Baricuatro, who tragically lost her father due to COVID-19, and lost her home during the Maui wildfires, was selected as one of 10 national finalists.

The Allstate Maui Invitational, the nation’s early-season college basketball tournament, KemperSports, and the college basketball community have rallied to raise $1.7 million for Maui wildfire relief and recovery efforts. 

Registration for the upcoming Menehune Basketball League begins today and runs through Aug. 11, 2023.

The 2022 Maui Jim Maui Classic Collegiate Basketball Tournament takes place this Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 17 and 18 at the South Maui Community Gym in Kīhei.

The final games of the 2022 Maui Jim Maui Invitational basketball tournament take place today at the Lahaina Civic Center in West Maui.

The Kansas Jayhawks defeated the BYU Cougars 71-56 in Day 2 of the 2019 Maui Jim Maui Invitational early season college basketball tournament, to secure a spot in today’s championship game against the Dayton Flyers.

Kids clinics will take place on Oʻahu, Lānaʻi and Maui and will feature instruction from Chaminade coaches and players from the men’s and women’s basketball teams. A coaches’ clinic will be held on Lānaʻi.

The 2018 Maui Jim Maui Invitational attracted almost 7,000 visitors and generated $21.99 million in sales statewide.

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational announced its 2020 field that includes 214 NCAA Tournament appearances, 39 Final Four berths and 13 national championships.

MIKE KRZYZEWSKI: “Big time game. Both teams played so hard. That was a heck of a win for us. To play this level of game at this time of the year is amazing for us. I thought there two guards are really as good as any two guards in the country.”

STEVE PROHM: “First thing, again, our crowd is phenomenal. This is a great, great event. First time I’ve been out here and the atmosphere, the teams, it’s really a lot of fun. I’m really proud of our guys to respond.”

JALEN MCDANIELS: “Man, it feels great. It just all started on defense picking up full court playing with a lot of energy and just keeping it up.”

The Maui Jim Maui Invitational today revealed the 2018 Tournament bracket, which will feature national championship contenders, three preseason top-10 programs, numerous player of the year candidates and future NBA draft picks in what promises to be an action-packed three days at the Lahaina Civic Center.

The camp gathers high-quality master coaches and professional athletes from around the world to inspire kids for life through the game of basketball.
