#Maui road advisory

The Summit District of Haleakalā National Park is hosting the annual Cycle to the Sun event on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2025 from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The state Department of Transportation continues road work at several spots across the island that includes maintenance, utility installations, and repaving of roadways.

The Honoapiilani Highway (Hwy 30) was reopened at 11:21 p.m. following a motor vehicle accident involving a pedestrian. Further details are pending release.

ʻIao Valley Road is now open following a closure earlier this morning. The road was closed for about four hours as crews worked to repair downed live electric lines that were knocked over by a large tree branch. The road is now open in both directions.

A motor vehicle accident involving a flipped vehicle was reported on the Pali section of the Honoapiilani at around 2:45 on Sunday, September 16, 2012.

Kaupakalua Road is now OPEN. The road was closed at around 5:45 this morning due to a large tree that had fallen down. The road has since been cleared and police reopened the road at 9:20 a.m.

Authorities say there is a downed utility pole in the area as a result of the accident. The incident forced the closure of the lower road between Aekai Place and Piina Place near the S-Turn surf spot.

Maui police were on the scene of a motor vehicle accident at the busy Kaahumanu/Mahalani intersection in Wailuku this afternoon. At 12:22 p.m., crews were working to clear the wreckage from the roadway.

The vehicles involved in the accident were cleared from the roadway by 5:45 p.m., but it was taking some time for traffic to resume its normal flow.

A wastewater facilities upgrade will result in the eight hour closure of Alahao Street near Kanaha Beach Park in Kahului next week.

There are several road advisories in effect for the island of Maui over the next few days associated with a bicycle race at Haleakala, an ongoing construction project at Maalaea, and road work in Waiehu.

Around-the-clock lane closures are in effect for a portion of Kaahumanu Avenue beneath the Waiale Road Bridge. The single lane closure went into effect over the weekend and continues through 6 p.m. Sunday, August, 7, 2011.

The road is now OPEN. Traffic is expected to take a while to resume its normal flow following a traffic accident reported at around 11:39 a.m. fronting Launiupoko Beach Park on the Honoapiilani Highway.

An afternoon accident in Ka’anapali resulted in damage to the bridge near Hanakao’o in West Maui.

The county begins a six week ditch repair project on Market Street in Wailuku on Tuesday. The project involves the replacement of asphalt pavements, concrete cover and drain inlets near the Pili Street intersection.

Maui Police reopened the Honoapiilani Hwy (30) at 2 p.m. Vehicles have since been moved to the side, and the highway is completely open.

County crews begin the installation of new pavement along Mahalani Street in Kahului on Monday. The project is expected to last about 11 weeks, ending on August 18th.

Maui police have closed a portion of Olinda Road in Makawao due to a downed tree and power lines. The closure went into effect at 8:45 a.m. and extends from Pookela Church to Hanamu Road. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and expect delays in their commute.

Motorists traveling to or from West Maui at this hour are advised of a traffic accident on the Honoapiilani Hwy near Mile Post 17.

Maui police closed Pulehu Road at 3:45 p.m. between between Hansen Rd and Omaopio Rd because of a motor vehicle accident. There was no estimated time on when the road would be reopened.
