#Maui Traffic Accident

A 68-year-old Kīhei man suffered fatal injuries following a motorcycle collision on Pūlehu Road Thursday afternoon. Police say the man was operating a black 2012 Harley-Davidson Switchback motorcycle and was traveling northwest on Pūlehu Road when he attempted to overtake a vehicle on a double solid yellow line. The motorcyclist lost control of the motorcycle upon failing to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and drove into bushes.  

A 71-year-old Maui woman and her dog are safe after the vehicle they were in plunged off the Kahekili Highway on Friday.

A fatal motor vehicle accident has forced the closure of the Lahaina Bypass at the Honoapiʻilani Highway in West Maui. The accident involved a bicyclist and a motor vehicle, Maui police spokesperson Alana Pico tells Maui Now. An investigation is currently underway and there is no estimated time for when the road will be reopened. The closure went into effect at around 8:47 a.m. on Tuesday, June 6, 2023.

A 68-year-old Kahului man suffered fatal injuries in a motor vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Central Maui near Kahului Harbor.

A 41-year-old female pedestrian from North Vernon, Indiana, suffered critical life-threatening injuries after she was struck by a vehicle on South Kīhei Road on last night.

The Honoapiʻilani Highway at the Lahaina Bypass is now OPEN in both directions as of 11:29 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022. The highway was closed since 9:19 a.m. due to a motor vehicle accident reported earlier this morning.

The state Department of Transportation will be conducting road work this week that will result in lane closures at various locations.

South Kīhei Road is OPEN as of 6:47 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019.

A 22-year-old male pedestrian suffered critical life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle while he was walking in the outermost northbound lane of the Maui Veteran’s Highway in Kīhei.

The Hāna Highway is now open in both directions.  It was closed earlier this morning in the Maliko Gulch area due to a traffic accident reported at around 6:22 a.m.

Drivers who have finally made their way down Haleakalā Highway to Hāna Highway now report that despite what they thought to be emergency vehicle lights, there appears to be no accident after all.

Christopher Thurber, 63, was pronounced dead at the Queen’s Medical Center on Friday, Oct. 28, 2016, as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

At 7 a.m., police closed the Honoapiʻilani Highway (30) in both directions following a fatal motor vehicle accident reported at around 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016.

A 51-year-old Kahana man was transported to the hospital after experiencing a medical condition while driving on Kaʻahumanu Avenue in Kahului on Thursday afternoon.

Maui police have cleared the vehicles from North Kīhei Road that were involved in a motor vehicle accident near the Kīhei Junction at around 8 a.m.

Emergency crews are responding to a report of a traffic accident involving a white Jeep in the area of Kaumahina Wayside Park in East Maui near Mile 12 of the Hāna Highway.
