The Hawaiʻi Department of Education reports that school will reopen on Wednesday on Maui and Molokaʻi; but storm impacted school closures continue at select campuses on Oʻahu and Hawaiʻi Island.

Jona Dudoit’s win in the 126-pound final was the first state title for the Moloka‘i boys team since 2005. From the MIL, Lahainaluna senior Siana Boaz-Vasquez also won the girls 140-pound crown and Baldwin senior Niko Takitani won the boys 165-pound title.

The nonprofit Oʻahu Hawaiian Canoe Racing Association donated $10,000 to Molokaʻi High School and Molokaʻi Middle School.

The Mamoru and Aiko Takitani Foundation, Inc. has named 10 high school seniors from Maui County as scholarship recipients of its annual Legacy Scholarship Program. Jairo Baguio-Larena of H.P. Baldwin High School won the Aiko Takitani Distinguished Student Award.

The Hawai‘i State Department of Education’s five public schools on Moloka‘i will be closed for students and staff on Monday, Jan. 30, due to impacts from severe weather. The impacted schools are: Kaunakakai Elementary; Kilohana Elementary; Maunaloa Elementary; Moloka‘i Middle; and Moloka‘i High.
