Public debate intensified Wednesday during several hours of sometimes heated testimony over a proposed phase-out of vacation rentals before the Maui County Council’s Housing and Land Use Committee.

Maui has a new Mayor: Bissen Campaign declares victory, Victorino accepts defeat

The Richard Bissen campaign has declared their candidate mayor after the second printout. In a Hawaii News Now interview just prior to the Bissen announcement, Victorino conceded saying, “I accept defeat,” and vowed to make the transition between administrations as smooth as possible.

Maui’s Ukraine benefit concert is sold out, but donations still sought to help fleeing children

A “Concert for Ukraine in the Maui Sunflowers” on Sunday, April 24, is sold out, but organizers say they are still taking donations to match philanthropists Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez who, together, will donate up to $50,000 to match funds raised as part of this event.
