In response to a surge in thefts in fire-impacted areas, the County of Maui is taking action to enhance security. To address these concerns, the County will install security cameras in key, high-risk locations to deter criminal activity and support law enforcement efforts.  

Store owners released surveillance video of an alleged theft incident in which a Onewheel GT portable electric rideable board, valued at $2,200 was stolen from Hi-Tech Surf Sports in Pāʻia over the weekend.

As of Friday, March 24, 2023, Kaanana was located, according to Maui police. The Maui Police Department thanked the public for their assistance.

Police made an arrest in connection to a second degree robbery investigation reported at around 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 2, at a parking lot located at 70 East Kaʻahumanu Avenue in Kahului.

The Maui Police Dept. is asking for assistance in identifying a male suspected in the theft of a utility cart from the Wailea Resort on Feb. 18 at 1:20 p.m.

Police say the male was found to be in possession of items that were taken from the truck. The male was identified as Miguel Washington, 28, of Kīhei, according to department reports.
