Peter Merriman is known as the “original locavore.” In 1985, he and local producers helped spur the farm-to-table movement in Hawai’i. Thirty years later, Merriman’s restaurants remain true to his mission statement, “Do the Right Thing.”
Ann Roberts has been promoted to the new position of Food & Beverage Operations Manager at the Makena Beach & Golf Resort. She’ll help provide leadership in all financial aspects of the resort’s four restaurants and eateries, and assist in all banquet/catering functions, nightly operations and the resort’s food and wine events.
The Sheraton Maui Resort & Spa has promoted Sharon Soriano to Manager of Restaurants and Bars. Soriano has been with the Sheraton Maui since 2012, serving as hosthelp, cashier, waithelp and fountain dispenser.
In the last signing before he returns to his tour, drummer Mick Fleetwood will be signing his Private Cellar Wine bottles and art prints from his gallery at Fleetwood’s General Store in Lahaina on Tuesday, August 25 from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
In what resort leaders call a “well-deserved promotion,” Kurt Lesmerises has moved up from Chef de Cuisine to Executive Chef at Mākena Beach & Golf Resort. He will now oversee all the culinary and banquet programs.
