The Construction Industry of Maui awarded three Maui County high school graduates each a $20,000 scholarship to encourage education toward a construction industry career.

Three students with roots on Maui—a Maui High graduate researching plant-based fire suppressants, a Seabury Hall senior focused on native plant restoration and a college student who found her calling working with the Maui Invasive Species Committee—have been selected as the 2026–2027 recipients of the Friends of Haleakalā National Park’s annual memorial scholarship.

Seven Rotary Clubs on Maui presented a $5,000 Hawaiʻi Rotary Youth Foundation scholarship to outstanding graduating seniors. Each club conducted interviews with multiple candidates and chose one recipient for the award.

The Ian Walsh Menehune Mayhem Foundation (IWMMF) announced its 2026 scholarship recipients. Eight outstanding student athletes have received $3,750 scholarships for their College or University expenses.

As part of the Hawaiʻi State Department of Education’s continued commitment to farm-to-school initiatives and student wellness, the mandarins have been available to school distributors since January, following Mahi Pono’s first commercial harvest of the Hawaiʻi-grown crop. The Bears have ridden that family atmosphere to a 7-0 start in the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular season and are on the brink of clinching their sixth berth in the last seven state tournaments.

The Lady Lunas won an MIL all-sports record 164 league games in a row and secured 19 consecutive titles from 2005 to 2024. But last season, Maui High won the title, and with both teams undefeated so far, their first showdown of the season comes with high stakes.

To date, the program has awarded more than $81,000 in scholarships to Maui, Moloka‘i and Lāna‘i students who have displayed a passion for returning to Maui County after college to contribute to the community.

Oregon State University started the tournament, involving four teams, in 2016 and it has been played every year since with the exception of 2020 when it was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
