Coast Guard assists 20 adults, 1 child aboard disabled vessel offshore Maui

A 45-foot Response Boat-Medium crew from Coast Guard Station Maui embarked 21 passengers from the charter vessel Maui Diamond after its engines became disabled and emitted smoke while transiting to the harbor.

Coast Guard suspends search for overdue boater off Oʻahu

The Coast Guard suspended its search at 7 p.m. Monday for an overdue boater west of Oʻahu. The missing 61-year-old man departed on a fishing trip early Wednesday morning and was reportedly last seen fishing near the Waiʻanae coast off the southwest side of Oʻahu.

Visitor reported missing after failing to return from snorkeling in Kāʻanapali

Weems was reported missing by a concerned family member on the evening of Friday, May 8, 2026, after he failed to return from going snorkeling in the area of 100 Nohea Kai Drive in Kāʻanapali.  Weems had texted a family member at 1:30 p.m., indicating he was going snorkeling, and at approximately 3 p.m., a guest reported to hotel staff that they had observed what appeared to be a male in distress in the ocean.

The US Coast Guard suspended its search at 4:30 p.m. Thursday for a fishing vessel crewman in the water over 1,200 miles offshore Hawaiʻi.  Missing is a 59-year-old man who reportedly fell overboard, Sunday.

Watchstanders received a mayday call from the captain of the Holokai, a 42-foot commercial fishing vessel, stating the boat was taking on water 2 miles south of Molokaʻi at 1:50 p.m. Wednesday. The men were located in a life raft and were safely hoisted and brought to shore to the air station in Kapolei.
