In recent days, several people have called the Sheriff Division to report an individual claiming to be a Deputy Sheriff, an employee with the Hawaiʻi District Attorney’s Office and in some cases, a Governor’s Office employee.

An investigation into a possible vehicle theft in Lahaina, ended with two suspects involved in a rollover motor vehicle accident that forced the temporary closure of the Honoapiʻilani Highway for at least two hours, Wednesday.

The percentage of burglary cases increased 20% from the week before when 10 incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts increased 22% from the week before when nine incidents were reported. Vehicle break-ins decreased 8% from the week before when 12 incidents were reported.

The FBI and Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency are working to investigate the cyber-attack against the operator of the City and County of Honolulu’s systems managing TheBus and TheHandi-Van.

The percentage of burglary cases decreased 9% from the week before when 11 incidents were reported. Vehicle thefts decreased 31% from the week before when 13 incidents were reported. Vehicle break-ins increased 71% from the week before when seven incidents were reported.

Six individuals were arrested and charged during the state’s Operation Keiki Shield 10 enforcement effort that was conducted between Friday and Sunday, Dec. 3-5, 2021 on Maui. All six are accused of first degree Electronic Enticement of a Child.

Maui police made two arrests yesterday in connection with a report of auto thefts in which four vehicles were stolen from the Kīhei Auto Sales lot in South Maui on Sunday. 

Officers with the Maui Police Department crime reduction unit and special response tactical team joined a Wailuku patrol officer in executing search warrants on a 41-year-old male resident at around 7 a.m. on Nov. 15, 2021.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is seeking the public’s assistance with obtaining identifying information regarding an unknown male who may have critical information pertaining to the identity of a child victim in an ongoing sexual exploitation investigation.
