Maui police have launched a second degree attempted murder investigation into a stabbing incident reported on Tuesday night at Hāliʻimaile Park.

A Waiehu man was arrested on Sunday for an alleged stabbing incident involving his neighbor.  

Maui police responded to three burglaries, three vehicle thefts and three vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Oct. 4 to 10, 2020.

A Colorado woman who was arrested on Maui in May for an alleged quarantine violation, is back in police

On Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020, between 9:30 and 10 p.m., a male was riding his bicycle on Haʻikū Road when he was confronted by another male operating a newer model white pickup truck, possibly a Toyota.  Police say the suspect exited the vehicle and struck the bicyclist with a golf club several times, causing injury.

Maui police responded to 12 burglaries, six vehicle thefts and 10 vehicle break-ins in Maui County over a seven day period from Aug. 23 to Aug. 29, 2020.

Maui Mayor Michael Victorino confirmed today that members of the “Love Has Won” cult were intercepted at Kahului Airport on Sunday afternoon and hours later took a flight to San Francisco and on to Colorado.

“To date we have had 337 impaired driving arrests which include 17 Habitual impaired driving arrests, compared to 342 impaired driving arrests this same time last year. Habitually Driving Impaired arrests in Maui County have seen a drastic 400% increase this year alone,” said Lieutenant William Hankins, MPD Traffic Division Commander.

Preliminary reports indicate 27-year old John Kahalehoe escaped from Dorm 2, scaled the fence and ran into a cemetery next to the facility.

Kumulipo Sylva, the man accused of the “near decapitation” of Eduardo Alejandro “Alex” Cerezo with a machete at a mall bathroom on Maui in 2018, is now named as a suspect in a deadly inmate-on-inmate assault at the Hālawa Correctional Center on Oʻahu.

Since March of 2020, the Maui Police Department has issued 1,069 citations for Rules and Order violations.  County officials say 410 of the citations were issued at a beach or a park.
