Hawaiʻi gas prices continue to fall
In Kahului, the average price of $4.97 is seven cents lower than last week, 23 cents lower than last month and 45 cents higher than a year ago. Motorists filling up at Costco gas say the cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gas on Saturday was nearly a dollar cheaper at $3.99. That puts the price of a full 12 gallon tank at under $50.

Maui women surf with men in historic ‘Eddie’ big-wave contest today at Waimea Bay
Maui’s accomplished big-wave surfers Paige Alms and Andrea Moller are among six total female invitees at the 34th annual Eddie Big Wave Invitational. Regents approve naming UH Mānoa building after “First Lady of Limu”
The University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents voted unanimously to approve the renaming of the UH Mānoa Life Sciences Building after Isabella Aiona Abbott, affectionately known as the “First Lady of Limu.” The approval came at a meeting on Jan. 19, 2023, following a groundswell of support from the campus community.

State’s highest court decides Alice Lee won Maui County Council seat
Saying the plaintiffs failed to establish a viable election challenge that would “cause a difference in election results,” the Hawai’i Supreme Court decided Friday that defendant Alice Lee received the majority of the votes and has been elected to Maui County Council’s Wailuku-Waiheʻe-Waikapū seat.
