Foodland launches Meals of Aloha with The Salvation Army
The public is invited to join Foodland and The Salvation Army Hawaiian & Pacific Islands in providing meals for those in need through ‘Meals of Aloha’ point of sale program. Now through April 30, Foodland will be accepting in-person monetary and Maikaʻi points donations that will go directly towards supporting Hawaiʻi’s families.

The Continued Rapid ʻŌhiʻa Death Response Act of 2023 authorizes $55 million in federal funding over the next 11 years to support ongoing efforts by federal agencies including the US Geological Survey, US Fish and Wildlife Service, and US Forest Service, working in partnership with state agencies, to help combat ʻŌhiʻa tree death in Hawaiʻi.

Gov. Green announces Kūlanihāko‘i High opening agreement
The State and Maui County have entered into a Memorandum of Agreement in which the Department of Education will receive a temporary certificate of occupancy in exchange for the State temporarily agreeing to indemnify the County against theoretical future claims of liability.
Maui Police Department promotes six officers to Sergeant
The Maui Police Department announced the promotion of six officers to the rank of Sergeant. All promotions are scheduled to take effect on April 2, 2023. The promotions include: Chase Bell, James Burkett, Carl Eguia, Jonathan Honda, Frank Kuamoo II and Randy Takayama.
Polynesian Voyaging Society launches a four-year Moananuiākea Voyage
The Polynesian Voyaging Society announced that it will launch a planned circumnavigation of the Pacific upon arrival in Juneau, Alaska on June 10, 2023. PVS spent five years planning for the Moananuiākea Voyage, which will take four years to complete.
