Darby weakens to a tropical storm, will pass south of the Big Island on Saturday

Darby has weakened overnight from a hurricane to a tropical storm, and sits well east of Hawaiʻi. The forecast track will bring the center of Darby, or its remnant low, south of the Big Island on Saturday.

Haʻikū murder suspect remains in police custody; victim identified

Maui police have since identified the suspect as Mike Pharisien, 51, of Haʻikū. He was being held on unrelated charges, according to an earlier press release. Maui police have also identified the victim of the suspected murder as 54-year-old Steven Holm, also of Haʻikū.
